LBMA Good Delivery Explained

LBMA Good Delivery is the wholesale standard that defines acceptable large gold and silver bars in the global market.

Specifications

A Good Delivery gold bar weighs roughly 350 to 430 troy ounces with minimum 99.5% purity. Silver Good Delivery bars run 750 to 1100 ounces with 99.9% minimum purity.

Refiner list

The LBMA Good Delivery List names accredited refiners whose bars qualify. Bars from listed refiners trade with minimal verification overhead. Off-list bars require additional assay.

Chain of integrity

Bars that leave LBMA vault custody can lose Good Delivery status and require re-assay before re-entry. That mechanism preserves wholesale market trust without continuous testing.
